I got this book The Blade Itself for my birthday this year. [link]

Have any of you guys read this? If not, you really have to if you like fantasy books at all. It's without a doubt one of the most entertaining books I've read in years. The characters are all immensely entertaining and unique, the dialogue is outstanding and very "sparky," and the pacing is quick. I am loving the unexpected character development, the dark sense of humor, the excellent fight scenes... There's even a barbarian who isn't a rip off of Conan or Fafhrd!

Great stuff! I can't wait for the second one!

I happened to be around the book store today, so I picked it up. I also found this delightful mystery series written by a woman named Carol Lea Benjamin. I like mystery novels anyway, but the main characters in this one are a fiesty private detective and her pit bull Dash, who is also a certified companion therapy dog. I finished the first book and I would definitely reccomend it to other bully friends.

Wow, I am not even remotely a mystery book fan but how can I resist that premise? Sounds great, I'll keep an eye out!
