Hellboy, Dr Horrible, and chinchilla rescues

Mon Jul 21, 2008, 6:15 AM
We saw Hellboy this weekend! It was outstanding. I hope that they do a third Hellboy movie and that it has Baba Yaga in it.

Hellboy is one of my favorite American comics. Mike Mignola is also so nice - we met him at a convention in Baltimore and he was very kind to us. He even drew us a few pictures, of Hellboy and the Gray Mouser!

Thank you Mike Mignola! Please make a third Hellboy movie and put Baba Yaga's chicken leg house in it!

Did anyone on here see Dr. Horrible? [link]

It's not free any more... but we watched it yesterday and it was outstanding.

Thank you Joss! I wish you would make it into a TV show or something! Joss

My friend Sally at Chincare [link] has recently rescued a large number of ranchie chinchillas.

[link]

These chinchillas would have been killed at the ranch... in many cases not even for their fur, since their pelts are in such awful shape. Now they have a home and will end up as pets.

She could use any type of donations to help pay for this. She is doing a lot of good here. Here is information about donating - [link]

(Also, she kept my holiday card! Hooray! [link] ) :D

If you donate, please let me know and send me the receipt email. I will draw something for you in return! Size and complexity of the drawing depends on how much you donate! This is a limited time offer :)

I'm kinda frightened at the idea of a third Hellboy movie. Cause there will be little red flaming children in it.... Although if anyone can put Baba Yaga in a movie and make it awesome, it's Del Toro.

Dr. Horrible was amazing. The ending threw me for a loop -so not what i was expecting. But man was it good.

I'm not really a "Del Toro fan" exactly... I just don't know enough about him. I think the only movies by him that I've seen are the Hellboy movies! But I'm a HUGE fan of the comics. Baba Yaga does play a pretty big role at some points in the series. I would also like to see a Hellboy movie about witches with Hecate in there!

I figured Dr. Horrible would have an ending like that... It is Joss after all ;) I don't want to spoil it for anybody though.

I was so happy when Nathan Fillion came on screen :D Makes me want to re-watch Firefly again...

Del Toro is worth looking into. His Faerie tales are some of the best. Followed closely by his ghost stories.

I enjoyed Hellboy II, but in a different capacity than the books. I find that if I try to compare them too much, it kind of ruins the experience of the movie. Most of the characters are just too different, but each version of Mignola's "world" is good in its own right so I enjoy them separately. Except for movie-Liz, she's still an emo punk eyesore no matter how hard I try to like her.

The movie was so pretty... I loved all the crazy colors in it. I loved the forest god, and young Hellboy with giant buckteeth made me laugh a bit.

...now I kinda want to see a house hopiing around on chickens' legs too. :D

Yeah, you have to mentally treat them as two different things to really enjoy the movie. I love the actor they got to play Hellboy though, I think he does a great job capturing his laid back, subtle personality.

You know Baba Yaga would be awesome ;D
